Special Events

Camp is Where Scouting Lives

Throughout the year, Rotary Scout Reservation is proud to host a variety of special events organized by council and district committees, including Order of the Arrow weekends, Cub Scout Fun Days, Klondike Derbies, and training events for youth and adults.

The upcoming events below include links to the registration pages.

Order of the Arrow Spring Induction Weekend – June 4-6
The induction weekend (Ordeal) is the cornerstone of the Order of the Arrow experience.  Every current and past member of the OA has participated in an induction weekend.  Time will be spent in cheerful service to our camp.  This weekend will be used for each candidate to reflect upon one’s time in Scouting and for them to consider what they will do going forward.  Every induction weekend contains three key parts; taking a vow of silence, eating scant food, and spending a night away from others.  All components of this weekend adhere to The Guide to Safe Scouting and are supervised by trained and qualified adults.  To find out more about the weekend and view our candidate guide, visit the Kitten Lodge website at kittanlodge364.org.

Beaver Day – June 12

Calling all volunteers to help prepare camp for our summer program re-opening.  Youth and adult volunteers of all skills levels are welcome to assist with service projects around camp.  Please register in advance so that we have a head count for projects and lunch.  All volunteers will receive lunch and a Beaver Day 2021 patch.  Adults with relevant trade skills and knowledge (such as carpentry, electrical, or plumbing) are asked to contact Property Manager Joel Uline in advance to discuss possible projects that may be available.

National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) – June 27-July 3
National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) is an exciting and powerful program designed to provide members of the Boy Scouts of America (ages 14 and over) with leadership skills and experience they can use to lead themselves and others.  This week-long outdoor experience represents a month in the model life of a typical Scout unit.  This course is designed to compliment leadership training at the unit level and is a follow on to Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troops.
